Filming Painting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Orange County, California- August, 2012 – 24 Peaces is an artist's journey to invite people to ask the question "What is peace?" and to powerfully connect them with their own ability to create peace such that they are inspired to action." With the purpose of igniting our own individual ability to create peace, the artist GENE (Gene Jimenez) is conducting a series of twenty-four conversations with both preeminent peacemakers and a cross section of “every-day people” from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

"I created this project so that people can start to see that peace comes from within themselves. Not from someone else, someone famous, non-famous or any other culture. The 'peace' that is within each and every one of us is why we live, to share that part of us with the world."

Eighteen of the 24 Peaces interviews have been completed and include a wide range of peace-makers from different parts of the world with varying and sometimes unconventional ideas of what peace means. Some of the people already interviewed include Dr. Deepak Chopra, Eliyahu McLean, Marianne Williamson, Chief Arvol Looking Horse, Guy Laliberte, Sabac Red and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The full list can be found at www.24peaces.org. The 24 Peaces team is on track to have the final six of the 24 Peaces interviews completed in the next several months.

GENE has recently started the process of creating twenty-four paintings based on the energy and content of these interviews. His dynamic and vivid painting style gives him the opportunity to portray the creative possibilities for each person to use our world as a canvas to create peace. You can see sneak peaks of the paintings on the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/24Peaces.

A mixed-media project, 24 Peaces will be showcased as a traveling video and art exhibition, as well as an interactive Internet portal, and a stand-alone documentary film. The completed works of art will be fully revealed in this traveling exhibition. As a registered non-profit organization, all proceeds from the project will be distributed to the participating peacemakers 24 various world-wide charitable organizations.

"I have always held that my purpose for being an artist is to make a difference for one person. That alone, to me, is a life worth living,” said GENE. “My intention is to reach as many people as possible so that I may connect with that one person” he added.

24 Peaces is composed of Artist Gene Jimenez, Director Ron Judkins, Executive Producer Anna Herbert, Producer Jennifer Young, Producer Michelle Andrada, and Media Relations Jen Freligh and Tai Freligh, and is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.
